'When the Fish and Tin Have Gone'
Heartlands Project, Cornwall, UK
Project Overview
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This 15-minute immersive installation won a IVCA Silver Award for 'Best Documentary'. It covers the entire history of tin mining in Cornwall and includes a diverse range of themes from the geology of the area to the human impact of the Cornish Diaspora.
We were aware that the detailed elements of this storyline were being covered by other museums in the area, so we were keen to create something more unusual, memorable and distinctive. Instead of creating a typical script, we developed a narrative using selected quotes from historic texts, snippets from letters, lyrics from songs and lines from poetry, which were woven together to support the imagery.
